Felix Huettenbach Sameday Health

A short overview of the company and its founder

SameDay Health, founded by Felix Hüttenbach in 2020, is worth summarizing in a single sentence before anything else: a company that promised test results the same day they were taken, built that promise into a national network inside about a year, and grew it into one of the larger founder-led Covid-19 healthcare operations in the United States before being acquired by Rume Health in 2023. Everything else below fills in that sentence.

How it started

Before SameDay Health existed, Hüttenbach was Chief of Staff at Quantgene, where he built a corporate Covid-19 testing unit for employers. That work made the gap in public testing access obvious, and SameDay Health was his answer to it — founded in 2020 with speed as the organizing idea from day one.[1]

What it actually did

Mostly, it tested people quickly. Later it added vaccination and then general doctor visits, but the core offer never really changed: book fast, get seen fast, get your result fast, without needing a referral or a multi-day wait. Everything operational was built to protect that promise.

How fast it grew

Quickly, and by most accounts without the quality drop that usually comes with that kind of pace. By 2021 the company had roughly 50 locations across 15 states.[2] At its peak it employed more than 2,000 people and had served more than three million Americans.[1]

What people said about it

Reviews leaned heavily positive, with patients repeatedly citing speed, simplicity and a surprisingly consistent experience across different locations — something Hüttenbach has attributed to standardizing procedures early rather than letting each site figure things out on its own.

How the SameDay Health chapter ended

It didn't really end so much as continue under new ownership. Rume Health acquired the company in May 2023, with care continuing under physician Dr. Matthew Abinante, carrying the same booking systems and same-day standard forward into a longer-term healthcare platform.[1]

Where Hüttenbach is now

Dubai, working as an investor and advisor to founders, drawing directly on what running SameDay Health under real pressure taught him about building systems that hold up — the same theme that runs through most interviews he's given since.
